This video pretty much reiterates everything I've said about what makes a great jumpscare and what makes a terrible one. They even shit on watchmojo for not knowing shit about what makes a great jumpscare. In watchmojo's own words... "It's a 1-2 punch of a scary face and a loud noise, and that's exactly what makes a jumpscare so effective". Dumbasses.
But the main reason I actually share this video is the back-and-forth sequence between the movie Prestige and Poltergeist. Gotta see it. Beautifully done.
Let's Talk Shit About Jumpscares
Re: Let's Talk Shit About Jumpscares
i think that jump scares, like any kind of scene or plot construction, can be done well and done badly. it's not that jump scares inherently suck. it's that some filmmakers are lazy about it.
Re: Let's Talk Shit About Jumpscares
the video is pretty good.

A great non-horror jumpscare.
