I remember 2001 really taking a while to actually get to the story, and we're just their for the long slog of a ride until it starts. It's not a favorite Kubrick of mine, but I do respect it, and the 2nd half is pretty awesome.

I'm guessing it has something to do with birth and in 68 the sounds and visuals probably seemed other worldly but I don't know if it's for me. I'll think on it a bit before grading 2001

I won't claim to say I understand what it's about but I do understand the technical reputation is has. It is very cool to look at. I thought Barry Lyndon had some boring stretches but that was nothing compared to this. The first half borders on torturous boring. It just squeaks across the line to a C+
