heart eyes director says that jason lives was his northstar and gold standard for the film. thoughts?

Jason Lives is one of my least favorites in the F13th franchise. I liked Thom Matthews as Tommy Jarvis and CJ Graham did a good job playing Jason. But the film just... idk, it just feels different to me and not in a good way. There was no nudity/TNA which the F13 films are known for, It's not brutal IMO, not like some of the other films, and the way Jason is resurrected, just wtf. It's not terrible and not near as bad as some of the ones that came after (i.e. Jason X) but as a huge fan of that franchise I will never understand why its adored so much.
