(Reviewed by KingEched) - Remember back in the day when King
films were the best in horror? I'm talking Cat's Eye, Firestarter, and
Misery. Now think about the new King films like Dream Catcher and Secret
Window. There alright, but when you compare them to the old ones they come
off looking, well, sad. Well Riding The Bullet is a throw back to the old
King films. It is simply a fun and wild LSD ride that doesn't let up
until the very end.
The plot is simple. A college kid is going to visit his sick mom. On his way
to the hospital it becomes all to clear that death himself is stalking
this guy.
Now here are the goods. The film is full of dream scenes. One I got a real
kick out of because death showed up and he sounded just like Freddy Kruger.
No kidding here. King must love A Nightmare On Elm Street. First Johnny
dresses up like Freddy for Secret Window and now death is made to act just
like the guy. Death looks nothing like Freddy, but the moment he opens his
mouth you know it's him.
All the other dream scenes are also well done and cool. The film also
has a great twisted sense of humor. I would like to say that it is the
very first King dark comedy. In short I loved this films to bits and it
has become one of my all time fave King films. Just as good as the old
greats and well worth the viewing. |
