Horror Movie Fans is a website dedicated to horror, run for the fans, and run by the fans. As such, we’re a community that is always looking to help out, and as often as not BE helped out, by new and talented people. With everything we do, we try to use our members talents to their full potential, if they want to be involved. As a site run by the fans, the only limit we have is on the collective aspirations and creativity of the horrorfans who call HMF home. What this means is that if you are an aspiring artist, writer, programmer, designer, or film-maker and you think you can help us out, all you need to do is ask. In some cases, we will try to accomodate you instantly, whereas with others we’d happily allow you to help us along.
For example, if you’re great at drawing Vampires (could be a neat talent) and think we could use your images for our forum, main-page, or even as some custom avatars upon request, we’d happily put that to a popular vote and if the community liked it, you’d be hired. If, on the other hand, you want to write articles for our News Blog, or write reviews, all you need to do is join the forums and introduce yourself, and we’ll happily put your work up. If you prove to be a steady and reliable contributor, then we’ll even hand you the keys to the kingdom as it were and let you publish without us checking your spelling and making sure you aren’t getting us in trouble. As with any collaborative process, the sooner we think you’re a cool and crazy kind of guy or(/and?) girl, the sooner we’re likely to trust you to do things without us at least making sure you’re not trying to get us closed down.
HMF is a very multi-faceted site. We have ample opportunities to contribute. At the moment, some of our projects that we are trying to perfect include a weekly radio show, our collection of horror movie reviews, our voting tournaments, our graphics and design for the site and forum, our calendars and announcements, and our news blog. All of these are areas where if you have an interest and wish to participate, you should just join the site, and give us a shout. As with all good projects, some fresh perspective and added talent can only be a good thing. You might even discover you have a knack for something which you didn’t know about before.
Bottom line is, if you want to help out and want to be a contributor, sign up to the forums and tell us what you want to do, and we’ll try to fit you in. After all, its as much your community as ours. We run things for the fans, and by the fans.
