Vulture has learned that Brad Bird (’The Incredibles’, ‘Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol’) is in talks to direct ‘Here There Be Monsters’ for Legendary Pictures. The project was originally set to be helmed by director Robert Zemeckis but he has since dropped out.
‘Here There Be Monsters’ follows American Revolutionary War hero John Paul Jones as he is wrongly stripped of his British naval commission and hired by a shipping magnate to investigate the disappearance of his merchant ships in the North Atlantic. Soon enough, Jones and his crew suspect that it’s the handiwork of a sea monster and have to fight to survive it.
