Ed Martinez is best known for his Special Effects and Gore from the 1989 Zombie Classic “The Dead Pit.” Ed was also the first guest on “HAVOK’s Horror Discussion,” after the interview Ed and myself became friends and with this friendship Ed came on my Radio Show numerous times either to promote his most recent work or just to talk about great Horror films. It’s been awhile since I have spoken with Ed, but recently I recieved a message on Myspace from Ed wanting to promote his newest project.

“The Dead And The Damned” Written and Directed by: Renee Perez. Starring: David Lockhart, Camille Montgomery and Rick Mora.

The synopsis for the film is as follows: It’s 1849 in Jamestown California and the Gold rush is in effect. The local miners are eager to search everyday hoping to come out on top with the best and most gold from the hills and valleys. During an expedition the miners stumble upon a rock(Meteor) and they bring it into town. While trying to figure what this rock can be, the locals release deadly spoors located inside of the Meteor and soon the towns population begins to turn into deadly blood thirsty Zombies/mutants. Will the remaining townsfolk survive this unspeakable event?

Ed Martinez has gone back to his Zombie roots and is giving the Horror fans what anybody would want from a Zombie film: Great effects, outlandish Zombies and a boat load of Gore. All this combined with a Western setting should make any Zombie lover happy.
