Drag Me to HellSam Raimi ’s new film, “Drag Me to Hell’s” trailers are calling the film his return to horror. Raimi is known to horror fans as the architect behind the Evil Dead Trilogy,  but his more recent fame has has been directing the Spider-Man franchise.

HorrorMovieFans.com writers Kelsey Zukowski, Foo and I talked about two weeks back on HorrorMovieFans.com Radio, Sam Raimi always had a spin of comedy in his horror. “Evil Dead II” is a pretty solid mix of the two, “Army of Darkness”is full fledged slapstick but even the original Evil Dead has some quirkiness. An inexperienced Raimi may have lucked out when his first full feature turned out to be as an effective straight edge horror film as it did. Expect Drag Me to Hell to have at least a hint of slapstick.

The PG-13 film centers on a loan officer ordered to evict an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, which turns her life into a living hell. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.loan officer ordered to evict an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, which turns her life into a living hell. Allison Lohman plays the lead character of Christine Brown with Justin Long co-starring.  The reports are there is no Bruce Campbell cameo nor a Ted Raimi one but Scott Spiegel is listed as mourner #3 on imdb.

Lohman was cast when Ellen Paige of “Juno” fame dropped out due to scheduling problems. Interesting thing about Lohman is she is nearly 30 years old and looks as young at the teen actress she replaced. When working on “Matchstick Men” Ridley Scott was surprised to hear she was 23 at the time and thought she was closer in age to her 14 year old character.
