Roger Galloway confirmed last night on HorrorMovieFans.com Radio Network’s Sunday Night Horror w/ Mike Olsson that director Joe Dante will have a small part in Piranha 3D as an actor. Joe Dante of course directed the originial 1978 film, Piranha, that was written by John Sayles and produced by Roger Corman.
Piranha 3D is the second remake of the 1978 originial Piranha. The series includes Piranha 2: The Spawning directed by James Cameron in which the Piranhas developed the ability to fly. Roger Corman returned to the series for the first TV Remake in 1995 for Piranha starring William Katt. Piranha 3D’s cast includes Ving Rhames, Elisabeth Shue, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O’Connell, Dina Meyer, Adam Scott and pornstar Riley Steele. The film is directed by Alexandra Aja of High Tension and Hills Have Eyes (2006) fame.
