Horrormovies.ca is reporting that Charles Kaufman’s 1980 film ‘Mother’s Day’ is set to be remade by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2-4, Repo! The Genetic Opera) through a deal by Twisted Pictures, The Genre Co, Rat Entertainment, and LightTower Entertainment.
The upcoming movie is scheduled to start filming in July 2009, for a theatrical release in time for Mother’s Day 2010.
The original ‘Mother’s Day’ centered on three female friends who go camping but soon come across two brothers who attack the women as a way to try and impress their derange mother. The remake is said to see the villainous family return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
Richard Saperstein of Genre Co. had this to say…
We’re taking the iconic image of a mother, the most comforting and nurturing person in the world and perverting that into something that is punishing and sadistic.

At the chicago premiere of Repo he said he was making “a remake that was so brutal and gory that it would make the saw series look like Disney Films” At the time he couldn’t say what it was though. Hopefully he delivers on this one.
I think the Bates family beat them to the punch of a perverted, sadistic, punishing mother
Let alone the first version of “Mother’s Day” beat Bousman to the punch as well. *thinks of more possible obvious things to say.*
Nope, I’m all out.
