Variety has recently reported that Universal Pictures has plans to remake David Cronenberg’s 1983 film ‘Videodrome’, with Ehren Kruger (’The Ring’ and ‘Skeleton Key’) set to write the script.
The original ‘Videodrome’ starred James Woods as Max Renn, the head of Civic TV Channel 83, who makes his station relevant by programming “Videodrome”, a series that depicts torture and murder which transfixes it’s viewers.
This is how the upcoming remake is described in the Variety article.
The new picture will modernize the concept, infuse it with the possibilities of nano-technology and blow it up into a large-scale sci-fi action thriller.

holy fucking hell…the writer doesn’t have good enough creds to handle brilliant material like the original.
