Variety has recently reported that Platinum Dunes has found their Freddy Krueger in Jackie Earle Haley of ‘Watchmen’. Haley is officially onboard, as the first cast member signed, for the remake of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’.
Kyle Gallner (’The Haunting in Connecticut’) is currently in negotiations to take a role in the upcoming film, which starts filming next month in Chicago, as well.

Interesting choice, but I’m still probably not going to see it when it hits theatres
This actually gives me a reason to be excited about the movie. He definitely has the harming children thing done, but in Little Children he was a very different character. He was reserved, miserable, and even though you wanted to hate him you ended up caring for him. Freddy is going to be a completely different dynamic for him, but I think he might be able to handle it. I am really curious to see what he does with it. and I haven’t seen Watchmen and while I heard the movie wasn’t great, I did hear that he was one of the best parts of the movie so maybe he can make the remake be better than it might have been otherwise.
