PriestPaul Bettany has been tipped to star in the upcoming film, due for release in August 2010, titled “Priest”. The film is based on a Japanese comic that revolves around a Priest who is exceptionally good at dispatching of the Vampires that also occupy this fictional world. Hundreds of years of conflict between vampires and humans have lead to the setting which this book now finds itself. The Priest, played by Bettany, decides to go against his church’s wishes and goes on a rogue mission to save his niece, along with another priest and a sheriff. The story itself is being touted as a Vampire Western. Sheriffs, priests, and bloodsuckers. Should be good. And it has some notable producers too.Along with the news of Paul Bettany being touted as The Priest, Steven Strait and Gerard Butler have been mentioned as casting choices for unspecified roles in the film. Lead vampire, sherriff, who knows. But they are interesting casting choices. Further to that, proders include Sam Raimi, Mike De Luca and Josh Donen are set to produce. The relatively strong cast is backed by Director Scott Stewart, who has worked with Paul Bettany on a similarly interesting project. Reuniting the two, and adding the always inspirational Butler, should be a worthwhile project.
