4 Out Of 10 SKULLS
My dead twin is gonna come back to kill me, but luckily I ate him when in the womb so no worries are coming my way and with this bit of information I give you the premise of “The Unborn.” First off I want to say that I had no “HIGH” expectations for this film, the trailer seem good but then it wore off it’s welcome in my mind. Because with the trailer, it was easy to guess the whole story and even the scares that drained the budget away instead of good story-telling. Basicly the flim goes by the Scary Children Horror Rules. As in, start the film off with a dream sequence which leads into the lead female characters life, have the lead female act as a babysitter watching a little kid who does something strange to his infant brother. Then watch as crazy sounds and shadows follow you around until you realize the “Big” problem, which haunts you more now that it’s told. Throw in a few film references from other Horror movies made in the past 6 years or more, combine everything together and Horror audiences are given a rehash of useless garbage where every jump scare is easily guessed and your expecting more, in which “More” never happens. Now with this long intro let me describe the plot outline of the film. Casey has a great life, she has good friends and the perfect boyfriend, but soon things start to happen as Casey has a dream of finding a blue glove which leads to a baby fetus in a bottle buried in the ground. Her Mother hanged herself when Casey was a child for unexplained reasons, which soon come back to haunt Casey. Toss in a make out scene with the boyfriend and then the story starts to pick up, but if your a Horror movie buff its basicly a paint by numbers story from this point on. Soon Casey is trying to figure out why the kid she babysits (Matty) is acting strange saying things that don’t make sense but soon do. After an eye exam from where Matty hit Casey with a tiny mirror the doctor asks if Casey was a twin, in which Casey replies as being an only child. Then with a visit to see her Father Casey learns she was a twin, but the umbilical cord choked her twin brother causing the fetus to die in-utero. Now throw in a crazy old Jewish woman who freaks out over seeing a picture, which is soon to be told as Caseys Grandmother. The Grandmother tells the story of how she had a twin brother while being captives of a P.O.W camp during WWII, where one German soilder had a thing for twins in which he thought they had some kind of power to explain the universe or something like that. With this information Casey finds a Rabbi Priest (Gary Oldman) to help perform an exorcism on her and along the way more bizzare things happen. Some of the bizzare things are dogs with their heads upside down, a wheelchair bound old man falling a floor down, only to walk on all 4’s with his head turning upside down making a creature you would see from John Carpenter’s “The Thing.” Bizzare face changes, plus Caseys little dead brother “Jumby” who is following her around the whole film. The only thing worthwhile about the whole film is a dream sequence where Casey opens the door to her Mother sitting in a chair, then reveals her Mother having a hollow face with teeth and the entire exorcism scene. Other than those scenes the film is a total piece of dreck. Nothing is great about this film, the scares and the story are guessable. This film has been done before and perfected many times over, so save yourself from seeing film and don’t let the trailer fool you.

Why are all the Spam Emailer’s flocking to my review?
I only saw it late.
It’s still a good review. When’s your next one up?
I’m unsure at the moment, I haven’t seen anything as of late worth writing a review.
I plan on doing an OOP Review whenever there is a need to talk about it on our show.
