Last Night on Sunday Night Horror Mike Olsson welcomed director Kevin Tenney who previously helmed minor classics Witchboard and Night of the Demons (which featured the famous Linnea Quigley lipstick-breast scene).
Kevin Tenney was promoting his new film Brain Dead (no relation to Peter Jackson’s film), a zombie flick involving people infected by an alien organism. The film is set for a limited release and could expand to more theaters (complete theater listing at the bottom of the article). Tenney tells Mike that he is sticking to his roots and Brain Dead is a horror-comedy.
HorrorMovieFans.com writer and radio host Havok calls in and tells Tenney how much some of his movies are worth on VHS and the director gets a kick out of it. Tenney brings up meeting Wes Craven for the first time and his surprise when Craven knew of him. The editting process and the matter of film taste prompts Tenney to compare porn to musicals. The director brings up his film being shown on the Lifetime Channel and his role in the Night of the Demons remake. The conversation was very laid back, fun and Tenney talked about so much more. Havok then called back in with his weekly reccomendation segment where he informs us which obscure or under the radar films we should see. This week he reccomended Mustang Sally’s Horror House and gave us a full review.
Mike’s girlfriend and HorrorMovieFans.com writer Kelsey then called in and scolded Mike for being too stubborn to watch Repo: The Genetic Opera. Mike then brought up his dislike of musicals and the musical versus porn taste came full circle. Kelsey then tried to convinced Mike and Havok to watch the film. Havok compared the film and it’s following to the McRib. Mike then promised to watch it with Kelsey. Kelsey eventually got mad and hung up. Once again to listen to the show click here.
