Night ProjectionistTechnically this story becomes one of two parts. First of all, Studio 407 has a comic coming out in February 2009 which many comic fans may find interesting, called “The Night Projectionist” but adding to that, there is now talk of that very same comic becoming a film. The story was found by ReallyScary  who cite Variety as their source. Apparently Studio 407 have made a deal with Myriad pictures to bring this comic adaptation to the big screen, which is all the more satisfying considering the story and its subject matter. Myriad Pictures some may remember as the team which brought them Jeepers Creepers 2 and Mother of Tears, among many movie credits. The story itself is one which is quite interesting, especially to a cinema-going horror fan. The Night Projectionists is set largely in a theater that has elected to run a Vampire film marathon as a final goodbye before being closed down. Loads of happy Dracula-philes come pouring in for the all night film-fest. However the dream send-off becomes a nightmare when the theater is layed under siege by a horde of vampires, keeping the viewers hostage in their favourite cinematic location, huddled and fearing for their lives. Things get worse when they discover that the projectionist is also a vampire it seems. But is he on their side?

With this basic premise you have a solid possibility of a strong vampire film. The writer of the comic, Robert Heske, had this to say:

“I wanted to write a story that would appeal to hard-core vampire traditionalist while, at the same time, reinventing the genre by adding my own twist to the vampire myth. I was intrigued by the idea of putting the main action of a vampire story inside a theater because that’s where most people were introduced to the vampire myth, inside a movie theater.”

Regardless of how much some may say the film has a certain resemblance to other Vampire films, it seems that this may be a unique enough concept to make for a great film. At the very least, it will be a good comic, coming out February 2009. The Film may not be along for a while, but when it does come it’ll be well worth the wait, we hope.
