Hollywood Reporter has news that Overture Films is prepping a new horror thriller based on Steve Niles’ ‘Freaks of the Heartland’ graphic novel. The upcoming adaptation will be directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Freshman scribes Peter Sattler and Geoff Davey.

Steve Niles’ six part 2004 series, from Dark Horse comics, is about a man named Trevor Owen and his attempts to protect his “monster” of a six year old brother and Gristlewood Valley’s other “freaks” from their parents’ worst instincts.

Other upcoming projects from Overture Films include a a remake of George A. Romero’s 1973 horror film ‘The Crazies’. and a film called Pandorum, which is filming in Berlin.
