Fangoria recently scored some interesting news from William Lustig. The director is preparing a fourth entry in his ‘Maniac Cop’ series along with Larry Cohen (’God told me to’, ‘It’s Alive’), who co-wrote the previous films.
Lustig had this to say.
Larry and I have gotten the sequel rights back for ‘Maniac Cop’, and we’re preparing to do a ‘Maniac Cop 4′. I don’t have any more details other than that; this all happened within the last month, so it’s so fresh… When I get back to Los Angeles, Larry and I are going to sit down and work on something.

Same here, Bludge. When I saw the title I immediately thought “Oh god, here comes the remake”. Refreshing to see them take a stab at a sequel.
