Earlier this summer, Rue Morgue Magazine broke the news that Dimension Films’ Bob Weinstein was wooing Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (of Inside) to helm a follow-up to Rob Zombie’s Halloween.Rue Morgue Magazine took this news one step further and spoke to the pair who confirm “it’s a proposition we couldn’t refuse.”

Maury explains they’re reverent of Zombie’s re-imagining of Michael Myers and they’re out to put their stamp on the character not copy what came before them. “Therefore, our vision will be done with upmost respect, with a continuity of [Zombie’s] work but also a real evolution of the world he set in place.”

Okay horror fans, I for one am really excited about this news. The brutal and intense vision that this duo brought to “Inside” kept me on the edge of my seat. If these two can translate that type of carnage into the new “Halloween” sequel then we are in for one Hell of a bloody ride!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThat is great news. I really liked Inside and I enjoyed the Halloween remake. I like that they are respecting the first film but adding more to it, which is what sequels should do.
Holy shit - I might as well just get ready for remakes of Halloween 4 & 5 too - at least Danielle Harriss can still play her character (only cuz she’s gorgeous). I think this is silly. I don’t care how good Inside was - it’s nothing like Halloween. Why can’t it just be let go of. Goddamn.
I always like seeing new Halloween movies and the Inside directors are talented. Looks like a good fit.
All the talent in the world can’t explain to me why you would remake a film, then spawn sequels from a remake of an original that had numerous sequels. Surely it’s going to have to tread on old ground…
Was the last Halloween film not your favorite Seb?
I loved RZ’s halloween, but I don’t see it as needing to spawn sequel after sequel after sequel. It was a good one-off. My interest dies with RZs departure.
And if RZ was to do it?
Have you seen Inside?
I’m not sure what the gripe is with remakes getting sequels… i think this could be cool, given the talent.
Should be interesting. I never saw Inside, but I’ve heard great things about it. I’ll be more excited about this when a plot synopsis is revealed.
If RZ was returning, Seb would be saying how brilliant it is to have a sequel to a remake.
Now then, Inside directors doing Halloween 2. Sure, why not, RZ already fucked up horribly, let’s see if someone can’t steer this ship right. :p
