I will preface this from the start with the fact that this is classified as a rumour, but one which Total Film and Cinema Blend have both reported, so perhaps its more credible than something I would myself invent. As with all rumours, we never know just how credible it will be, but we can at least dream if nothing else. Sam Raimi has apparently talked about restarting the Evil Dead franchise with a fourth installment. Rumours elsewhere have Sam Raimi stating that he will be bringing his brother Ivan away for the weekend to discuss potential plots and ideas. Elsewhere, some have quoted Bruce Campbell as updating his health insurance. Coincidence, or clever fortune.
The fact of the matter is that nobody wants to report this as official news until Sam Raimi is sitting behind the camera shooting Bruce Campbell running through some creepy woods, because this has been discussed and hoped for repeatedly, and more often than not it has been shot down by both the main character and director. Is there reason to think they’ve both warmed to the idea, rather than to say that they wish no part in it? Only time will tell. As it stands, we have Sam Raimi telling people at a convention he will be taking his brother out for a weekend. Most of the time we wouldn’t jump so high, but Evil Dead 4 is a project begging to be made. Hopefully all that begging will finally have come to fruition. Lord knows I need a sequel to 幽霊の腸3:キャプテン スーパーマーケット”Ghost Guts 3: Captain Supermarket”

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackSo the status of Evil Dead IV has pretty much not changed at all?? Somebody should tape Raimi’s mouth shut until he’s filming this thing.
Officially, no. But the rumour mill has him going off to discuss it with his brother, so I guess that is a ‘change’
A subtle change… I’m sure he’ll come back saying “we’re not going to do it”. Although it’d be sad to see Ash’s last outing with Campbell being as bloated as he is in the current Burn Notice ep’s.
This makes me sad … I hope it is not true.
With blood,
Baby
I always got a kick out of the Captain Supermarket thing. As for there being a sequel, I don’t see the need for one. The original ending of Army of Darkness closed things up rather nicely with Ash losing his shit in a destroyed future. The american ending, while not as good IMO, still wrapped it up by showing Ash coming to terms with being the proverbial deadite slayer.
A 4th installment to the Evil Dead series?? i must confess, this intrigues me a great deal..i loved all the evil dead films, they’re truly in a class of their own..
