According to Variety, Screen Gems has recently acquired the script for a film called ‘The Roommate’ from writer Sonny Malhi, executive producer of ‘The Strangers’. The film is said to be like an updated version of ‘Single White Female; for the modern college crowd. Read on for the plot.

The story centers on Sara, a college student randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. They start off as friends but things turn deadly as Rebecca begins to target people in Sara’s life.

Malhi will co-produce this feature, under the Vertigo banner, along with Roy Lee, Doug Davison, and Irene Young. Screen Gems and Vertigo also have ‘Quarantine’, ready for release on October 10th. So keep an eye out for both films.
