Joss Whedon (Firefly. Serenity) recently talked to MTV about various projects he has in the works. One of those is a horror film he wrote titled ‘Cabin in the Woods’. Well now The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that MGM is going full speed ahead to bring the film to the big screen.

‘Cabin in the Woods’ was co-written and will be directed by Drew Goddard (who also wrote Cloverfield). Here is what he had to say about the upcoming film.

It’s got a harder and darker edge, but it’s also got classic Whedon quaities. It’ll rip your heart out and be heartfelt at the same time. There’s a reason the title is so straightforward. It’s its own sub-genre, the cabin in the woods, and this is sort of our take on it. It’s fresh and new.”

Mary Parent, the head of MGM, had this to say.

There’s other stuff that’s percolating, but this just felt great. Honestly, it’s one of the most clever and original scripts i’ve ever read.

It’s an intense visceral thrill ride and i’ll leave it at that. It was everything you would have hoped with the two of them.
