Special FX guru and make-up artist, Stan Winston has passed away yesterday, June 15 2008 in Los Angeles California, Shocktillyoudrop.com reports. No details are available at the time of the report, but the man has left one heck of a legacy creating icons in film for many many years.

If it weren’t for Winston, we wouldn’t have the visions of the creature from Predator, the villainous endoskeletons in the Terminator series, the believable dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, to recently the suit of armor in Iron Man.

He was one of a handful of practical FX creators that stayed respected during the age of CGI, and continued to compete above the newer computer FX wizardry. He has also earned 4 Oscars in his career.  This man will be missed.
