I had the pleasure of chatting with “Methodic” director Chris R. Notarile online and he was nice enough to send me a screener of the film. As I began watching the film I got a real “Halloween” vibe at first when the story began with a young boy named Nicholas drawing ominous pictures of someone he calls “The Dollman” while at a family party. Instead of playing like a normal child, Nick is withdrawn and very unaware of what’s going on around him. That same night Nicholas murders his parents and in turn is sent to the state mental hospital where he spends the next 20 years without a single visitor until his sister, Lana (Niki Notarile) comes to see him. Lana is still coping with the loss of her parents and confronts Nick (Stephen Muzzonigro) which wakes the evil inside him. After escaping the mental hospital Nick begins killing anyone who gets in his way. Now if this sounds all to familiar to you then the third act is where Notarile makes this film his own. I won’t give anything away here but the pace picks up quickly and there are several really original and very cool plot twists to the story. You will think that you have this figured out until the ending smacks you right in the mouth! This movie has the feel of a slasher with a twist of demonic possession. For an indie film, I was very impressed with the acting. Niki Notarile made you feel like she was the girl next door and you could not help but worry about her fate. Stephen Muzzonigro was very convincing as “The Dollman” even creepy at times. Rachael Robbins was very convincing as the older sister “Melissa”. The awesome Brandon Slagle was great as our hero “Colin McDermott”, and also produced and helped write the screenplay. Overall Chris R. Notarile has made a very entertaining film and it’s one of the best indie films that I’ve seen in a long time. I would give it a solid 7 out of 10.

good review. That opening does sound a ton like Halloween. Good to hear that it holds up pretty well. Hopefully I can see this sometime.
This movie looks to be right in my horror wheelhouse.
