Well our friends over at Platinum Dunes are remaking another classic. “Near Dark” will be one of the next horror films to be remade. The Director will be Samuel Bayer who has directed music videos for such bands as Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, and Garbage. This will be Bayer’s first try at directing horror. The 1987 original film by Kathryn Bigelow has a huge cult following and is considered by many to be the best vampire film ever made. The story revolves around “Caleb” a young man who is bitten by the girl that he seduces and then joins her family of evil traveling vampires. Casting has started on the film and Daeg Faerch (young Michael Myers) has auditioned for the part of “Homer” originally played by Joshua John Miller. Homer was an ancient vampire trapped in the body of a young boy making the role perfect for Faerch. I hope this isn’t another PG-13, watered down remake starring the kids from the WB. Let’s just pray for Bayer to do this movie justice and give us something awesome!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI’ve heard about this for awhile. Daeg’s audition doesn’t sound familiar, so it’s news to me! He can fit in that part better than little Michael Myers, imo.
I loved this film but fail to see why it needs remaking. Are we THAT out of fresh ideas?? This makes me cranky. =Þ
