Tamara (2005)

I did a bit of research about this, and it was labeled a Carrie clone. Well now i've seen it, I can say that Tamara is anything but. The only similarities are that both Tamara and Carrie are misfits, are trodden on and have special powers. That is where all similarites end.
Tamara Riley (Jenna Dewan) is a witchcraft dabbling meek misfit, harboring a crush on Mr Natolly, her english teacher. When Tamara runs a story in the High Schools paper, about the sports team using steroids, they decide to play a cruel prank. And when they find out about Tamara's secret crush they have their bait. Only the plan goes awry when Tamara is accidentally killed. The groups of students responsible decide not to cal the police but take her body out into the woods and bury the body. To their surprise, the next day Tamara walks into class very, very much alive and eager to extract her revenge. It turns out Tamara used one of her spells, and has been turned into a vixen (dewans beauty is put to use by having the Tamara walk around in little clothing)  with the power to control the actions of others.
This being being horror, focus must shift to the deaths which are quite inventive and done well. One character goes through the motions of See No Evil, Hear No Evil and Speak No Evil, another is forced to wretch up blood gorge herself on food and then chew at her own fingers. If I could've changed 2 things about this film, 1st i'd like to have actually seen Tamara claw her way out of the dirt, and secondly id have liked to see Tamara survive at the end. But looking at the ending one way, survive is what she might have done.

I think a score of 8/10 is fair.
