| There are so many things in JGTH that just disturb me to no end. The whole movie is a stupid mess. The fact that the scene of Jason inexplicably shaving a man stayed in the film tells me it was just one big, sick joke played on Friday the 13th fans.

I was going to join the camp of disliking it.. but to be fair I've only watched it from a downloaded version. I was sober and it was the middle of the day.
I own a dvd, just haven't watched it yet. Tell you what Ill grab a six pack a beer, put the movie on my 50 inch plasma and give it an honest go. who knows I might join you.
but as of right now, my fav F13th film is 2 followed closely by 4

I liked JGTH in pieces, not as a whole. The body hopping worm thing was stupid, but it at least was a better back story than previous installments. At first I was pissed about a Voorhees sister for obvious reasons, but gone back to the original and Betsy Palmer did say "my only son" not "child". So that can be overlooked.
Yes, the women were hot, Creighton Duke was serious and comical at the same time and the end w/Freddy lead to FvsJ which for me was a horror geek fan mark out moment. Too bad it took 12 years to "perfect".
Had it come out sooner it could've saved both franchises. Now all they have is remakes. My question is, now that New Line who own Freddy and Jason copyrights is being folded and disbanded into Warner Bros. what will happen to these projects?

| My small beef would be that after he was "reborn" he came out looking just like he did before he was destroyed. He should have come out pink skinnned, naked, put on the mask (and hopefully some pants) and then continue fighting.

They really copped out by introducing such an abstract thing, such as being "Reborn", without detailing in any way what the rules were or how it happens. Did the worm baby crawl up into Erin Grey's vagina and turn her into Jason? Did he grow inside of her and burst out? What would have happened if the worm crawled into the baby?

Actually the rules were "infinity magic" which are very similiar to my 8 year old cousin's rules

Are you implying that there was a Jason movie made with a complete and sensible backstory? If so, which one?

I think they are all complete and sensible through part 6. Sure there are some continuity issues with Jason's look and such, but that is small potatoes. I think the backstory was perfect. You knew little about Jason because there was no one to tell his tale. He doesn't speak, and pretty much kills everyone he encounters, so it makes perfect sense.
A big reason I hate JGTH is because the storytelling is so amateurish. The Duke character pops up every time they need some exposition. Anytime a question needs to be answered, he appears. He is like a genie. Chant a question into the air, and he shows up. It could be on TV, in a diner, in jail, at Jason's house, he is everywhere. They don't even pay off the character as a bad ass. They have a homo-erotic finger breaking scene and he get killed by Jason like some chump.
