There's really not much you can do about the not remembering thing (we have a resident who has lived here for 6+ years, she can remember me and that my husband works on computers, but cannot remember why she lives here, where her sons are or that her husband has died, it is a very very tricky disease in what it affects on who and how.)
My first suggestion to you though is that her meds are not doing their job and she needs to try something different. Is she anxious about the paranoid thoughts? does she trust you or does she think you are a part of the conspiracy? If she thinks you are a part of the conspiracy, you will not be able to get through to her unless something in her changes and for that to happen it really sounds like she needs a different medication.
This is the first time in a long time when she is actually getting her meds when she is supposed to get them, and they did say they may need to ramp them up. It just seems like there is a moral dilemma of sorts with that, in that in order for other people to tolerate her, she must be drugged into submission.
Oh, I am definitely part of the conspiracy. I am the jailor. One night I hear her gagging loudly, run downstaris to find her trying to induce vomiting, as the pills I gave her may have been poison.
And yeah, she doesn't trust anyone. Friends, family, the state, doctors, it doesn't matter. The moment she hears something she does not like, she turns. It is pretty much that way with everything. I will sometimes call her friends so she has someone to talk to, and when she gets angry at them, she throws my cell phone. Even asking her nicely to not throw my cell phone creates a response similar to punching a sane person in the face.
The response to pretty much everything is "I want to go home." and then the follow up is "I want to die". She doesn't understand that by not communicating her desires in a reasonable way, it forces others to make decisions for her. I had really hoped for her sake that she would understand that this is the alternative to something that she really does not want to
the moral dilemma of drugged into submission vs not goes out the window when her quality of life is non existent from paranoia. It's not about making her tolerable to you, it's about making her more lucid and less fearful to live a more peaceful life in her final years instead of living them in fear and hurt.

Thanks Sebastian. Totally agree there. Highly underrated movie i'd say.
it was. I saw it in york as a special Viking Films exposition at the cinema. Totally was not expecting it to be quite so chilling and impressive. Especially interesting to see Mads Mikkelsen in a commanding leading role, not uttering a word.
Yes. Not a syllable. Only had to show up every day. Visually striking film and often surreal. May be too cerebral for some peoples taste, but their loss I say.

Valhalla Rising.
Very good film.

which is why i suggested temporary hospitalization through an psych/med evaluation. They will ensure she gets the meds, you won't be the bad guy, and when they release her the meds will be in her system so she will be more complacent and less paranoid about things which will allow you to continue her treatment and care at home.

Grandmother's coming and she sent money for my hair to be cut, so I think she's expecting it.
