as far as i remember, his suicide note showed that he was troubled and hurting, that he'd lost the passion for performing music and being in the biz. that he wished he hadn't lost it. mentioning freddie mercury's seemingly unwavering enthusiasm for performing and envying that. etc. i don't recall any of it coming across like he was ending his life for selfish reasons.

Read what you just wrote! You don't think killing yourself over THAT is selfish?

i don't think he killed himself because he wanted out of the biz, but that is in the note. that is part of him being troubled.

You didn't do it.
Considering it is one thing, going through with it is completely different.

I've gone through with attempts numerous times, only to wake up and be severely disappointed at another failure, getting into a bad enough spot that I've wanted to buy a gun so that I can and have pretty much only been kept from that because of Mark's unwillingness to leave me alone on trips to alabama where I can.

From what I remember, Cobain also hated the fame and spotlight portion of it, which seems obvious for him. Certainly makes it an odd choice for him being in a band, but I know he never thought they'd blow up to be as huge as they were. He hated the fame and constant attention, and knew he would never escape it anytime soon, played into his suicide.

Back to the original subject

I'm interested to see how this turns out. I really enjoyed the Friday remake and I've always felt that the Amityville & TCM remakes are very underrated. As what was already stated earlier in this thread, Bay can't do any worse than RZ's Halloween II (a fucking desaster IMO).
The NOES remake was dark and entertaining enough for me to watch more than once. Though it was the weakest of the Platnium dunes remakes so far.

I think people are trying to interpret what cannot be interpreted, which is the state of someone's mind when they attempt suicide.  It is never something as simple as being selfish.  It is usually a complex cycle of depression, pain, feeling of worthlessness, and other emotions.

Even what is written in a note is rarely the full story.

Funny thing is, although they are in the same division and are rivals, I don't hate the Browns. My mom is a huge Browns fan. When the Bengals were not on TV, I would watch the Browns with her and root for them. She loved Bernie Kosar. Although, she would always scream at the TV at him "Throw the ball, dumbass!". I heard this a lot because Bernie wasn't the best scrambling QB. He ran like a duck, lol! :p

I don't care enough about sports to actually hate on anyone...I just know my brother drilled it into my head "Bengals suck, Browns rule" :p

I'm a bit late, but I don't see suicide as a purely selfish or cowardly way out at all. In some cases it's logical choice.
