I like how this movie has like 3 different endings. The theatrical ending was by far the best and most effective with the girl going back up the stairs and chucking her boyfriend at the camera. However, the original ending to this movie is changed during Night 21. When she gets up, she doesn't move over to him when she stares for like 3 hours. She just gets out of bed and stares from where she stood, then after all that ruckus you hear downstairs, she walks back up bloody with a knife and sits down next to the bed and rocks for like a solid 24 hours, lol.

Later on, cops come in and shoot her dead:p

i really didn't like blair witch. i watched about 10 minutes of it and to me it just felt like a silly bunch of college kids running around in the dark scaring themselves with a shaky hand held cam.

is Paranomral Activity anything like that?

im hoping Para Activity is more of a deep scary and high quality horror scary flick. something along the lines of an Omen or Exorcist, where there is a genuine touching upon the power and unpredictability of the nether realms as it interfaces reality. And that reality must be made patent, it must touch us somehow in shock - that something so mundane and real could be so twisted by unknown forces....

but no, if its a blair witch shallow silly seasick flick - im not watching it.

is it like blair witch?

I know none of that stuff happens ten minutes into Blair Witch, all they do is interview townsfolk during that span, so I smell bullshit already :p

When you say "quality"...do you mean budget? Because it is a handheld/home camera filmed movie, rather than a steadycam/track camera flick like The Exorcist, and no where near the budget.

Is Paranormal anything like Blair Witch? Depends really. You see shit happen that's obviously supernatural (in context of film) in PA, where as Blair Witch's is just audio or behind the scene (i.e. not on camera). That's the biggest difference really: you get to see shit in PA, AND to boot, when the stuff happens, it's when the camera is set on a tripod, so the visuals are steady. There's plenty of creep and shock in the flick, even for Boogey, who's normally a gore-hound.

I have a very hard time seeing how anyone could find that "funny".

I never thought I'd get to see the day that I could say I've seen a movie that came halfway near as terrifying as The Exorcist.

So, considering how I thought the Exorcist was more humorous than terrifying, should I take it that this is funnier than the Exorcist? I find that hard to believe. A little girl stabbing her crotch with a cross while screaming fuck me jesus is hard to top. :P

The film has it's humor. INTENTIONAL humor.  :p

Nothing goes on like Regan stabbing herself. I don't find anything like that funny, but I guess I can understand that some people do find it funny. If I were to guess, I would say this one would creep you out more than The Exorcist would.

Of course its funny!!! If we all took that seriously there would be a lot bigger problems lol...

Anywho I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this movie and I got a chance to watch a burned copy of it but decided to wait instead of watching a crappy version of it.

I've always thought the hand held camera was very effective in terms of scare factor when done right.. simply because it put you there with it. The metaphor I use is that rather than watching the little ants running far below, you are the ant running.... So if this is handheld, I put it on 50/50 of either being amazing or total garbage.. I am hoping for the amazing..
