Yes and no. There are hospital sequences following that night, which in essence is remaking part 2, but I heard it's less than 20 minutes worth. So it's mostly a new movie

The only thing that really calls it a remake are the names of the characters.

and the hospital scenes And that shot of Michael walking down the stairs looks suspiciously familiar
I also heard a rumor the whole hospital sequence is just a dream of Laurie's. Ah, the old "it was just a dream" cliche....

I am going to it tonight, but I'm just going to see Mike on the big screen...I so do not like the fact there are dream sequences and Michael's mom coming back....

| I have a curiousity to see how much 'creative' freedom he really had on this one, and how different it is in general. I wonder if it winds up so different it completely alienates fans. Most already hate the Hobo-Michael look.

most fans I know already feel alienated by this film. I recall RZ stating in an interview a few years ago that there was never to be a sequal but the studio forced it. I wouldn't be suprised in the least if all these "changes" were done on purpose to kill off any interest in doing more films. Just speculation on my part but from what I've seen this film has ruined the Michael character.

Rob Zombie was the one who decided to make a sequel. According to him, when he finished recording his album, he felt inspired to make a sequel. Obviously with the success of the his first movie, why would Weinstein's say no
And nothing in H2 would ruin the Michael character, if his character were to ever be ruined, it would've been in Halloween: Resurrection

| Rob Zombies Halloween 2 made me want to go home and watch Rick Rosenthals Halloween 2. The new one sucks, save your money.

Of course the new one sucks. The old one sucked and Rob Zombie is a fucking sell-out pussy who are full of shit. A bag of hypocritical shit.
Now he's remaking The Blob as well. I hope he gets run over by a train already.
