(Reviewed by Snake-666) - Occasionally amusing but extremely poor overall.  Although I enjoyed the original movie to a degree I found ‘Jack Frost 2' to be complete and utter rubbish. The film lacked any production values and the distinct cheesy charm that the original possessed. The obviously fake sets and scenery unfortunately made ‘Jack Frost 2' look more like an episode of ‘Sunset Beach' than a movie and unlike the original which used a low budget quite well, this movie has no budget at all and doesn't seem to be afraid to show it.

At the beginning of the film Sheriff Sam Tiler (Christopher Allport) is explaining to a psychiatrist what happened a year earlier when Jack Frost, the mutant killer snowman, attacked his small mountain town – much to the amusement of the psychiatrist and other people listening in. Meanwhile the bottles containing Jack mixed into anti-freeze are dug up and taken to a genetic research laboratory which ultimately results in Jack Frost being resurrected and swearing revenge on Sam, who has gone with his wife Anne (Eileen Seeley), Joe (Chip Heller) and Marla (Marsha Clark) to a tropical holiday resort for Christmas after Anne decided that being home wouldn't be good for Sam. For the most absurd reason explained later in the movie Jack is able to track Sam to this tropical island and goes back into the killing business.

It's impossible to fully describe how bad this movie is. The first succeeded by not taking itself too seriously whereas this one fails horribly by not taking itself seriously at all. The writer/director (Michael Cooney who more recently wrote ‘Identity') obviously tries to keep the humorous theme of the original but ends up creating a movie that is pretty much void of all laughs. The viewer may giggle occasionally at one of Jack's one liners or the whole absurdity of the situation but it ends up becoming too difficult to even stay focused on this movie and enjoy any aspect of it. The poor quality of the actual camera's used to film and total lack of budget for the sets make it hard to appreciate any aspect of this movie and the last twenty minutes or so become almost painful to watch. The most ridiculous concepts are thrown into the last twenty minutes of the film and any enjoyment that was found in the first hour or so of the film is destroyed by a series of amazingly ludicrous and idiotic moments.

The snowman costume is even worse than the one from the original which is ludicrous as Jack isn't on screen in snowman form half as much as he is in the original. A few very bad, and unnecessary, scenes with CGI use just subtract even more from any possible viewing pleasure until it becomes plainly obvious that ‘Jack Frost 2' is a total waste of money.

The acting is just as abysmal from the entire cast, which is remarkable as I never thought much of the acting in the original and after having now viewed this sequel the acting in the original ‘Jack Frost' seems Oscar worthy. Fans of the original may enjoy this movie to some degree but I believe overall they will be very disappointed. There are a few amusing scenes and a couple of funny one-liners similar to those present in the original but overall this film is very bad. This is a movie for hardcore genre (cheesy horror) fans only and I certainly don't recommend it even to them. My rating for ‘Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman' – 3/10.
