(Reviewed by Snake-666) - Not as bad as they
say. It amuses me that people moan about the
non-participation of Michael Myers in this film. Ok, Myers had been in the
previous two films, but it is obvious that the second film was a
continuation of the exact place the original left us, so why should we think
that Myers would be around for the third? Plenty of other film series have
changed storylines, lead characters etc.
It appears that the main reason people seem not to like this film is because
it is a 'Halloween' film without Michael Myers. Look beyond that.
In this film we have quite a good storyline, it plays more on the elements
of the supernatural rather than the tedious "psycho killer that can't
be stopped". In my opinion this is a welcome break. Much more can be
done plot wise with incorporating supernatural elements. Just take a look
how boring the sequels to 'Friday The 13th' and 'Halloween' managed to get,
following the same guidelines every single time.
I have to say that this film is a good film and the people who slate it tend
to be the Michael Myers fan club. If it hadn't been related to 'Halloween'
then I'm quite sure that there would be much less criticism about the film. |
