The Most Terrifying Woman in Movie History?

Post by Jason »

I thought this would be an interesting discussion that none of us have had before. I put it in non-horror because I didn't want anyone going in thinking only of horror flicks. All genres should count. I've got about 3 women or so, but I'm wondering if anyone will echo any of my choices.

For whatever reason, who is the most terrifying woman in movie history?

Modern era would definitely be Amy Dunne. Not sure of all time though.

She's got my vote. Probably #1. Rebecca de Mornay in The Hand That Rocks The Cradle is a close 2nd. Kathy Bates in Misery. Betsy Palmer in Friday the 13th and Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct would likely make up my top 5

Should movies based on true stories count? Elizabeth Montgomery in The Legend of Lizzie Borden would probably overtake the top spot, in that case.

Haven't seen this one since it came out, but maybe Charlize Theron in Monster?

The old woman in Insidious before the sequels totally ruined it? :p

Pamela Voorhees. Who back then ever thought a frumpy old mother could be a cold blooded killer? Not me. Opened up a lot of eyes and doors for women killers.

I must've been in a really weird mood. I like the movie and all, but no.
