Why are we so desperate to make the coronavirus a permanent virus...showa58taro wrote:We will be locked down/WFH till 2021 in our office most likely.
Our feelings don't change reality or science. We're not trying to make it "permanent," the fact is that it may be long-lasting.Jason wrote:Why are we so desperate to make the coronavirus a permanent virus...showa58taro wrote:We will be locked down/WFH till 2021 in our office most likely.
because we don't actually know what will happen, if we try to "burn it out". all that is is speculation and theory, unless you have some source to prove otherwise?Jason wrote:Why are we so desperate to make the coronavirus a permanent virus...showa58taro wrote:We will be locked down/WFH till 2021 in our office most likely.
it's like a parachute. we've opened it and slowed our descent, so we can take it off now? we don't know if we're still falling or if we're on the ground yet.Jason wrote:It's a brand new virus. If we quickly develop herd immunity, the virus will no longer exist. I thought this was common knowledge. Also, with a virus this brand new, we're playing a dangerous game that could allow it to mutate and morph into a supervirus that kills 50% of the population...
Flatten the curve (which we've done), and then open the country back up. "Slow the spread" doesn't decrease your likelihood of catching the virus. The entire reason behind slowing the spread is so hospitals are not overrun with patients. You are more likely to get it if this disease becomes endemic, which governments are apparently begging for. More people will continue to die overtime and we've now successfully allowed a permanent virus to take over the world of which we have no vaccine for.
