And it seems everyone's cool if we haven't seen the original to count, so I'll go edit the Masque of the Red Death in...

Edit: Looks like 1964's Red Death is the first film version, lol. So nevermind on that :P
IT should count. It's a movie, imo.
But the original is a TV miniseries, which is why I asked.

That's what I mean. I count the OG as a movie. And even if it wasn't, you can only rank the remake. Which is clearly a movie. lol.

I'm fine with that justification.

It's more than that, damnit. Is Batman 89 considered a remake?

as d chose to assemble his list, he'd probably count it here, if it was also horror.

Are you sure? I don't think he's so sure, I got D scratching his chonies thinking if it should count.

Nope. But that superhero stuff winds up being an exception because they're not actually adapting stories, just bringing the characters on screen and making their own stories.

Unless it's actually adapting Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, The Long Halloween, or other storylines like that getting repeatedly made, then no it doesn't count.

If they were to use Pennywise again, remolded him in a new continuity, but didn't reference the book at all other than using the character, I'd have a hard time swallowing it as a remake.

Casino Royale would count as a remake, because it's technically been done before, even though the first time around was a parody film.

if no, it's because it's only adapting characters and not a specific story. but possible you're right.

I'm ultimately leaving the decision up to Head though since he's running the show. If he wants to leave it exclusively to movie-to-movie remakes or not.

If it's by vote, so far it's 3-1 (I'm abstaining since I'm only going to react to the outcome)

lol, nah, I'm just trying not to justify it. Just like you, something about it didn't feel right, but fuck it, it fits as a remake.

Since we aren't comparing them to the originals...

The Thing
Silent Night
Black Xmas
Invaders From Mars(if it's considered horror, it's usually listed as sci-fi horror, but I always just considered it sci-fi, your call)
Dawn of the Dead
The Hills Have Eyes
IT
Piranha 3D
The Fly
The Crazies

I'm not really a fan of the last two on the list, but they're ok.

My list would be very short when it comes to remakes better than the originals :P
