Yeah, we'd all rather watch Jimmy cut his dick off, walk around in a dress and get handshakes from everyone for being brave.
What movie is that from?
Girl
A Fantastic Woman
The Danish Girl
Just to name a few. Also, I don't have netflix, but don't they literally have an entire genre of transgender movies you can access on their main page?

Movies have been liberal as fuck forever. It doesn’t register because many of the political issues of past eras feel like they should have never been divisive to begin with. But they were and people complained about them. Nothing’s changed.

None of it is forced down your throat. Are you arguing it's not far more prominent today with an "in-your-face" approach?
it was all over rocky 4. it was all over the exorcist. *shrug* i think we pick up on it and rebel against a certain kind of politics, more, because of the political climate lately, as a whole.
I wouldn't say it was all over The Exorcist, by any stretch. Are you talking about the part where she's acting in that scene as an activist?
no. the church saved regan, when science couldn't.
That isn't political more so than religion vs science. There are tons of deeply religious liberals. That's a different scenario.
you're the one that's making a distinction between political ideologies. i didn't say it wasn't liberal.
I'm just saying I wouldn't consider religion vs. science to be political. And I wouldn't consider The Exorcist to be religion vs. science, either. In the movie, Damien is both a psychologist and priest. And expressed in the movie that incidents like Reagan's tend to be psychological.

Sounds like a positive thing for transgender people. How would you want them represented in movies?

Get them mental help, because cutting your dick off and putting on a dress is absolutely not normal.

So deny their humanity and shut them out or any representation in the film industry. I see. Do you not see the irony here of you wanting films to embody your own politics?

How am I denying their humanity? That's textbook, leftist, mental gymnastics. Normalizing cutting your dick off is only going to add to the problem. The transgender suicide rate is 40%, and further study shows it doesn't change even after they become who they want to become. Addressing this as a mental health issue is the only sane way to go about it, and people are trying to normalize it. Get them help.
Let me ask you something. Would you date a transgender person who was born a man but has an artificial vagina?

I’m going to ignore your political drivel here because it’s irrelevant. Do you not see the irony here? You want films to reflect your politics while complaining about the opposite.

You're going to ignore what you don't have answer for. Convenient.
I want people to stop normalizing transgenderism and get them the mental help they need to be sane. If you want this to be a normal movement where everyone pats them on the back and cheers them on as they continue to commit suicide at nearly half the rate, that's on you.

It just can't be marked on the scale properly. You've got left and right, with authoritarian and libertarian measures. Science and religion have no place on that scale.

Your lack of self-awareness is stunning and it just sounds like you need real life friends to talk about politics with. This conversation is not just an excuse for you to get on a soapbox and dive into your personal beliefs. That isn’t what this conversation is about. Stick to the topic, stop with the tangents.

We're talking about politics in movies. You asked me to name even one transgender movie. I named three. You said I'm trying to deny their human rights. You brought it to this point.
Would you date a tranny or not?

so political to you has to be liberal vs. conservative between characters within a story, rather than of the story itself?

No. You could have a religious guy and a science guy butt heads in a movie and I still wouldn't label it political.

I don’t care about your personal politics. Stop using every opportunity you see to go on a deep dive about your personal beliefs. I have zero interest in that and it’s not what this is about. You just sound like you need to rant about politics all the time, so just find some real life friends to do that with. You can keep screaming into the void about this if you want, but I won’t dignify it with an argument.

I didn’t drag it to any point, you just can’t go five minutes without screaming your personal politics at the closest person. This is an interesting topic and you couldn’t help but go on some rant that has nothing to do with what we’re discussing. Not interested.
Back on topic: you’re perfectly okay with your politics being reflected in films but the reverse bothers you. The industry has always projected liberal messages, they just seem less and less liberal over time because society always progresses to the point where those ideas become normal.
