was there ever talk of the wicked film deviating from it's source?
Maybe Laz thought it was a movie about Boston?
What does Wicked have to do with Boston?

There seems to be some confusion here so I hope this clears it up.
My girlfriend is a fan of the Wicked novel. When the film was first announced we were both excited about it. But when it turned out the film was an adaption of that stage play and not the novel it was a let down. Neither of us like musicals so the anticipation and all that was gone.

I like some musicals(Labyrinth and A Goofy Movie for example), but most musicals overdo it. It's just song after song after song. I'm here for the film, not for the song and dance numbers. One every now and then is fine, but it's usually too much. Even if it's not, I tend to not enjoy the songs, which detract from my enjoyment.

This is the problem I had with Sweeny Todd. I really wanted to love that film, I mean it had Allan Rickman after all. But all the damn singing just ruined it for me.
