hey now.. don't try to harsh my woke slasher subgenre! laurue smoked pot. sally b and e'd! take that dignity and class! :P
JLC is a bit overrated imo.
yeah, she did need a man's help in the end.

What does a man have to do with anything? I think she just happened to be someone who was cast in a world-beater slasher flick but her character didn't really do anything much different than your typical final girl.

you're judging her in retrospect? a lot of those "typical final girls" didn't exist in her time.

and a man takes away from her final girl-ness in her film, not retrospectfully! :P

Ah, good point.

I'm not really judging her. I just don't think she's the universal #1 that people always place her in. There are others I liked better and it's all subjective, really.

yeah, i get that. she's not my favorite as a character (nancy thompson) or an actress within the genre (dee wallace)

I don't really have a preference on how a final girl gets away, whether she's saved or does it all on her own. Olivia Hussey is arguably the best final girl to ever do it for sure, but she dies in the end. It really just depends on the progression of the movie rather than what she does in the end scenes.

I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite. If I go the underrated route my mind automatically jumps to Chris in Friday 3.

best final girl, really... bet you can't even name the character without googling! :P

seriously, i think that how she goes throughout the film does have an affect on her final girl status. but not on the film itself. just my point of view though.

Black Christmas is in my top 3 favorite horror movies of all time. I know that movie top to bottom. :P

Exactly. The movie is not about her. That's why it works so well. You don't have to stand out to be the best.

As far as I know, there are two truths in that sentence.
1) Olivia Hussey as Jess arguably being the best.
2) That she dies in the end.
