I remember 2001 really taking a while to actually get to the story, and we're just their for the long slog of a ride until it starts. It's not a favorite Kubrick of mine, but I do respect it, and the 2nd half is pretty awesome.

I won't claim to say I understand what it's about but I do understand the technical reputation is has. It is very cool to look at. I thought Barry Lyndon had some boring stretches but that was nothing compared to this. The first half borders on torturous boring. It just squeaks across the line to a C+

with how much i came away loving once upon a time in america, i really should have trusted that this would be great too. despite my usual struggle with western films.

My only complaint is it's too long it wouldn't of been difficult to trim 30-40 off of this
