What is Zombie watching recently?
Re: What is Zombie watching recently?
I rewatched Double Indemnity a few months ago. It holds the fuck up. That's an all timer.

Noir perfection. Billy Wilder + incredibly drunk Raymond Chandler writing some of the greatest dialogue of all time.
Re: What is Zombie watching recently?
That'd be my favorite of the four. But I haven't seen Asphalt Jungle.

Great movie. Will be on my giant noir list for Zombie.

Re: What is Zombie watching recently?
I've only got two noir flicks off the top of my head that I've been meaning to see but haven't pulled trigger yet. This Gun for Hire is one I've been sitting on for like 15 years and the Criterion Collection spine of Kiss Me Deadly always catches my eye as I'm browsing through the bluray shelf. I've almost pulled that one out like ten times and ultimately went with something else.

This Gun for Hire - pretty solid flickJason wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:48 pm I've only got two noir flicks off the top of my head that I've been meaning to see but haven't pulled trigger yet. Kiss Me Deadly - flat out masterpiece. Subverts and deconstructs the genre and takes it to its most extreme. Top 5 noir for me
Re: What is Zombie watching recently?
I get the vibe from This Gun for Hire that it'd probably just be a middle of the road noir flick. Veronica Lake is gorgeous though so I always have it on the brain when I'm in the mood for noir.
I committed to the Dollars trilogy rewatch and was gonna finish it off tonight with the Good the Bad and the Ugly, but it's got a long runtime and if it gets too late and I don't want to risk falling asleep to it I'll probably pop in Kiss Me Deadly. It's only 106 minutes.

Of the Lake/Ladd noirs I prefer The Blue Dahlia. Raymond Chandler only agreed to write if he could do it while completely shitfaced. Pretty fun movie.

Anatomy of a Murder is also solid as fuck fam.
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is a movie that's sort of hard to love, but it does have some damn good performances and an interesting idea.

I think the immense bad-assery of Jeremiah Johnson caused him to blow out his ACL, he's on the shelf for a while.
Just say the word, El El Sucio, ohhhh!
