i don't believe that. george lucas put her in charge, seemingly because he felt that she did care about star wars.

i think her skill set betrayed her as the head of a brand. she made her career putting together money and talent for a single film at a time, that was not attached to a bigger overarching set of films. that's where the problem comes from.

I would just blame the person Disney put in charge of Star Wars.
*george lucas put in charge of star wars.

but yeah, kathleen kennedy has proven to not be a good head of a brand, like she had been as a producer of individual one-off movies.
So you're saying a woman in charge was the problem? Might be on to something.
don't make this about gender. :P
Look, a dude takes over Pretty Woman and makes a misogynistic mess out of it, he's gonna be called on it all day every day.
if it was linked to him being a guy, i would call that out too. and pretty woman was written and directed by men, already.

Obvious to me that the last 3 movies goal was to retell the saga to suit the modern woke culture and they were willing to sacrifice its history to do that so they did.

the only film to sacrifice history (even the history of the previous films of it's own trilogy) is rise of skywalker, right? why include luke, han, and leia if you wanted to re-tell the saga, and not adding to it?

Just imagine if someone in charge of the Terminator franchise said you know what's wrong with these films John Connor so let's kill him off and replace him with a female character. That would be crazy right :P

People really act like the original trilogy is The Godfather in space lmao

I’m cool with the new movies. They’re dumb fun. It’s Star Wars, not War and Peace. They’re movies for small children.

terminator fell apart, as a franchise, for the same reason that you have beef with the force awakens. the same basic story, over and over.

The goal was to make money. They just went and fucked it all up in the process, relying on fandom to bring in the cash. The "woke" stuff was really only a major point in the middle one(don't remember the name), where it was essentially shoved down your throat. All in all, it was a shit trilogy that was a rehash at the best of times, and nonsensical at the worst.

Fan service. Star Wars without those characters is blasphemy to the hardcore nerds.

I'm not a fan of the series in general. The original trilogy were ok, but nothing crazy. The only thing it really had going for it were the effects for the time, which were removed by Lucas with the re-releases and all future films. That said, I'm still gonna call out a film for being dumb if it's dumb.

Luke Han and Leia were only there as support for Rey. And Luke is reduced to a pitiful hermit who went and hid because life got to hard for him.

maybe fan service was the bane of the new trilogy, then? reeling from what happened with lucas and the prequel trilogy, so they went too far in the other direction. hopefully as new films come out, they find a good balance for star wars.

I wouldn't say it's the only thing wrong with them, but it sure didn't help the films. Fucking Chewy getting that medal made me want to punch someone it was so dumb and out of place.

I don’t think there’s anything particularly smart about the original trilogy relative to the new ones. It’s a western serial that takes place in space, with the powerful dialogue of...George Lucas. Like I said, these are movies for children. You want something with some intellectual weight, watch Star Trek.

As for copying the original trilogy, isn’t that what the nerds wanted? Their existence revolves around worshipping the original trilogy and bitterly hating everything that isn’t that. So give them the closest thing. Genius.

i like the force awakens as a star wars film. the last jedi had some problems, but both are better than the prequels, in my opinion. and i have not seen the rise of skywalker, yet.

and rogue one is my favorite of the whole franchise. :P
