It sounds solid to me, but I'm obviously not a businessman.
What are the drawbacks, in your eyes?

Not actually helping people. My thing is that if I am going to help, I want to really help. No more of this fundraising bullshit where the people running the charity get 99% of the money, and no one is actually helped.Jigsaw wrote:It sounds solid to me, but I'm obviously not a businessman.

Maybe, but at least they could make a Patch Adams sequel, something like Foo Adams: The CravingFoo wrote:Have kicked around the idea of making it known that anyone can come to the shop or the truck at any time and get food, but I don't think becoming a beacon for thee homeless is a great idea. Correct. We are take out only, so I figure the customer sees them, and is back on the road quickly enough to where they will likely be in the same spot. I see the homeless when I am out. So I was thinking we might have some caring customers who might identify those in need or those actively panhandling, and stop to give them the care pack.Jigsaw wrote:Just to be clear, you're planning on giving these care packs to the customers and hoping they give them to the homeless? Can you imagine a movie where instead of pure compassion, they get a quesadilla and a rant from me about how lazy they are? Oscar contender. Pam Grier will play me.Jigsaw wrote:Maybe, but at least they could make a Patch Adams sequel, something like Foo Adams: The CravingFoo wrote:Have kicked around the idea of making it known that anyone can come to the shop or the truck at any time and get food, but I don't think becoming a beacon for thee homeless is a great idea. I know the customer is always right, but I can see a lot of potential for abuse. Give them the free food and the care packet, and they just take the care packet for themselves or throw it away. Unless you're in line-of-sight of the homeless, it seems a moderately high risk.Foo wrote:Correct. Kind of happened in American Psycho. Rant and all, except Al got a knife to the stomach instead of a quesadilla to the stomach.Foo wrote:Can you imagine a movie where instead of pure compassion, they get a quesadilla and a rant from me about how lazy they are? To be clear, we are not talking about some gourmet quesadilla. Cheese in a tortilla with some salsa on the side.Jigsaw wrote:I know the customer is always right, but I can see a lot of potential for abuse. Just my two cents.
it's pronounced bleck.Jigsaw wrote:Though simple, Pesci's 'because, you're black,' impression always cracks me up.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:You'll get no real argument, Lethal Weapon 2 is pretty damn great. 2 has the best one-liner though of the whole series, and done at the climax to boot.Jigsaw wrote:Interesting. I've consistently enjoyed the second one more (the first one, while good, just seems a bit ehh toward the end). Thanks for the replies.

I like the Lethal Weapon movies in order of their release.
I'd suggest setting it up so that each quesadilla sold=1 care package donated to a local homeless shelter (or each dollar donated, or every two dollars donated, or every case of water donated (seriously, canned food is often not very useful for people in need. Get people to donate cases of water, a 24 pack you can usually get for about 3 bucks at any store and can be delivered to churches that provide meals for the homeless and will go a lot farther than a can of food that someone bought for 50 cents and will go to one person. Pretty much any number of bottle water donations (so say every 6 16 ounce bottles of water= 1 free quesadilla for the customer vs 1 or 2 cans of food= free quesadilla for the customer is a better set up, and will be cheaper for the customer and will help 6 people vs 1 or 2.) If you donate the supplies directly to the local shelters it is much more likely the items will go to the intended demographic than giving them to the customer to hand out. Chances are they'd be like me and want to give the package to someone but leave it in their car and then forget it exists after a few days.Foo wrote:To be clear, we are not talking about some gourmet quesadilla. I don't have much faith in people, but you would have to be a real piece of shit to do that.
that sounds excellent!DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Expecting my book to hit around 85k words. Up to 66k now, and just getting started on my big climax. Not shabby, though I did expect it to be a bit more, but I don't know how else to pad it without it looking like padding. *shrug*
Yeah. There's some spots already that I know if it were adapted into a movie, it could just be cut out, but still find important for the characters. That's about as close to padding as I can really get.Dream wrote:that sounds excellent!DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Expecting my book to hit around 85k words. Don't pad for padding sake, chances are when you read back through you will find areas to expand on to pad it out more and make smoother transitions or interactions as needed.
Well then I need to get writing apparently.Headhunter wrote:Honestly, I'm not sure the world has ever needed anything more than it needs to see your 1910s list.showa58taro wrote:zombie wrote:where is seb's top ten films of every decade list?
