Watching the Friday the 13th Franchise, with Jason

There's a legend around here. A killer buried, but not dead.
A curse on Crystal Lake. A death curse. Jason Voorhees' curse.
Few have seen him and lived. Some have even tried to stop him... No one can.

i guess if it wasn't meant to be about killing a dog. it could be commentary on real life murderers, how they often kill animals too. and drawing your attention to it, to ultimately, and really subtly if that's the case, show that jason isn't just a normal sicko murderer. he has a purpose for it. that kind of goes along with what ginny was pondering too.

but i still think it was there to show that he does kill animals, whether it's for thrill or for food.
It is pretty common. Not even in just murderers, but with demonic hauntings, pets are often killed off.

I know my top two are Ginny and Pam.
the two to use chainsaws to try to fend him off. nice.
I noticed the similarity too after I posted :P

The whole bullshot about kids and animals is a Kane Hodder addition. He wants to make sure he preserves his anti-hero status because that is what plays with the autograph seekers.

That sounds about right. I used to really like Kane, but the special features on Jason X really turned me off with how...authoritative he was with what Jason would or wouldn't do. Him not playing well with the creators, i firmly believe, is why they dropped him for Freddy vs Jason.

Also that said, I would've wanted him to fight that fear-of-water bullshit...

1-6 guy here. I think 6 marked the official end of the series. Became anthologies with Jason shoehorned in after.

every time I hear him, I wonder if he watched any of the movies prior to part 6.

I do like Fred Mollin's score. Sure, he recycles some of Harry's from part 6, but I like the stuff he does too.

When I spoke to the guys making the Voorhees fan film I made the poster for, Cody was surprised when I said I don't like the eyes of the mask blacked out with felt, and I like seeing an eye or skin under the mask.

It took many years before I knew Mike was killed with tent stakes. Never knew what the fuck those were. I never saw stakes that looked like that.

6 was my favorite for a lot of years. it's good fun and has a lot of nostalgic value. But I moved 2 into the #1 slot a couple years back. The cast of characters is far more likable than any other installment. Particularly Ginny.

I know Kevin Blair/Spirtas is gay, but I never got a gay vibe from his character, Nick.

BEN...however...is a total closet case. I believe his girl knows too, hence why she's so pissed at him.

So part 3 was originally going to have Jason stalking Ginny in a mental institution. I've heard two different explanations for why this never happened. One was that it was too much like Halloween II, and the other being that Amy Steel turned it down for fear of being typecast. Anyone know what the real story is?
