Re: Recently Watched Movies

Three Blind Mice. Take the setup of the Evil Dead remake, but throw in three killer blind mice-people instead of deadites and you have this film. The makeup effects look good, as does the plentiful amount of gore, but there's a few absolute dogshit cgi bits. Decent enough film.

Yeah, but it's been ages. I remember liking it, but I'm a sucker for killer animal/bug films.

Re: October Challenge 2023 Discussion Thread

New watch: Slaughterhouse Rock Someone finally watched the movie.. Me actually digging the opening credits music: "Oh shit Mark Mothersbaugh & Devo, nice". Makes sense lol. I saw the opening nightmare sequence because I recorded the film that was on prior to it and set the timer for l...

Re: Recently Watched Movies

There's Nothing Out There. Pre-Scream meta horror, but it's a creature feature instead of a slasher. Pretty fun film that doesn't take itself seriously. They even managed to go against my expectations a couple times. Also, the ending got a good laugh out of me. Worth checking out, especially now tha...

Re: October Challenge 2023 Discussion Thread

It's almost 3AM and I'm starting up One Dark Night (1982). New watch. Meg Tilly, Adam West. Same director as Jason Lives. A potential hidden gem here. Gonna be pretty tough to beat The Sentinel for new watch, though. Not a hidden gem, by the way. Worst new watch so far. Lol You didn't like the zomb...

Re: October the 14th 2023

When did that become a phrase, multiple people have told me that recently, you do you. I'm the only one standing there, who else am I gonna do? And it's always basically to say I'm stupid. Like that, I got to wait in line for 6 hours. You do you, boo. Why not just say sucks to be you? Dunno, I've h...

Tiggnutz wrote: Sat Oct 14, 2023 6:00 pm I can't do the multiple hours line. That's why I do the photo-ops that I loathe. Waiting 6 or 7 hours to meet someone is just insane to me. This show Elijah Wood and Corey Feldman had 6 hour lines
In that case, I'd skip 'em. You do you, though.

Photo-ops are weird. Any time I got a picture with someone, I'd just do it at a signing booth.

Re: Recently Watched Movies

Cobweb. A kid starts to hear noises behind a wall in his bedroom. Didn't go the way I expected, though the red herring was pretty obvious. A bit supernatural, but again, not in the way I expected. The end is questionable, but I'd say it's a decent film.

Re: Recently Watched Movies

Final Summer. Camp-based slasher set in 1991. Lots of references to other slashers, but to the point where it seemed a bit forced at times. The intro seemed pointless and has nothing to do with the rest of the film. The camera seems out of focus at points, but that may have been intentional. The act...

Re: October Challenge 2023 Discussion Thread

Martyrs is as brutal as its reputation. Not sure I get the ending or maybe it's one of those "not supposed to get" endings. Need to let this one marinade before I grade it. I only like the first ten minutes or so. After that it was forgettable. Never understood why people fawn over it.

Re: Recently Watched Movies

Spookies. I swear I've seen this before, but I only remembered the kid and cat guy at the beginning and the asshole in black. Some scenes seem out of order, but it doesn't screw up the narrative. I'm now under the assumption that his was really just made to showcase the makeup effects, as that was o...

The people that made these films aren't clever enough for that. There's Things, then Things, then Things II. Don't ask me why, but there ya go.
