Boogeyman

bullet

(Reviewed by Preppy) - Another lousy PG-13 horror film.  8 year old Tim sees his father dragged into the closet and killed by the boogeyman. Naturally no one believes him. 15 years later he's played by Barry Watson and STILL has a fear of closets! Then his mom dies, he returns home...and the boogeyman is waiting for him.

There has been a glut of lousy PG-13 rated horror films in the past few years--"Soul Survivor", "They", "The Grudge", "Darkness Falls"--add this to the list. The story is constantly trying to scare you by sudden loud sound mixed with incomprehensible images--this happens at least FORTY times during the movie! The first two times I jumped...after that I just got annoyed and started to hate the movie. The plot drags and the movie is numbingly slow...I actually dozed off during the last half hour! There's a (maybe) good 45 minute movie here--it's dragged out to 90 minutes here.

There are two somewhat good things here. Barry Watson is tall, handsome and looking really good. He gives this movie a much better performance than it deserves. Also the climatic fight with the Boogeyman was kind of fun--but it's too little too late. If the movie wasn't trying to constantly scare us with loud sounds and silly images the attack might have worked.

So another stupid, insulting, boring horror film. Avoid. I give it a 1.
